Upgraded Design – Available 4Q 2023
The 5×5 Distributor is designed to amalgamate an active buffer, mults and mixer into one module. There are:
- 3 “unity”: CV or audio inputs
- These share a common buffer
- 2 “mix” CV or audio inputs with level knobs
- These share a common buffer
- Marked A & B, or Vib and PB.
- 3 “precision” outputs
- These are individually buffered, with provision for precise unity gain
- 2 outputs
- These share a common buffer
Using
It is especially useful for larger systems, where you want to feed multiple modules with the same inputs: for example:
- run the KCV and a sequencer CV into the “unity” inputs
- run the vibrato and pitch bend into the inputs with the level knobs
- connect the outputs to 2 VCOs and 2 VCFs.
Players of breath controllers will appreciate being able to mix their breath CV with an envelope generator, and send the outputs to multiple destination.
Build Notes
- This module uses standing resistors and components on both faces of the PCB, therefore the order of adding components is different from other fricko modules. The General Building Guide will have some added information.
- UPDATED DESIGN – now with trimpots to get precision CV outputs.
Technical: active buffered mixer/mult, 5 in/5 out
- For uses other than KCV, a configuration that runs at less than unity gain may be appropriate. This only involves changing a resistor. The BoM will have details.
- For KCV use, the “mix” signal inputs can be padded to reduce the input range. Scaling of each “precision” output can be done by adding resistors or trimpots to a carrier pack (an 8 pin DIP socket.) The Build Instructions will have details.
